Yesterday my wife showed me a video of a guy I had never heard of performing at the Brit Awards; Ed Sheeran. I watched the video and was blown away by his talent. As I read some of the reviews I noticed a theme. People were impressed by him. Not by a fancy show, explosions of fire, crazy set design, or miraculous costume changes. He didn’t need to mask his performance; he was simply a raw talent.
There’s a lesson here. If you’re good at what you do, there’s no need to worry about masking your performance; music, work, or otherwise. Stay true to what you know and remember that talent trumps.
